A piranha or piraña is a member of family Characidae in order Characiformes, an omnivorous freshwater fish that inhabits South American rivers. In Venezuela, they are called caribes.

  1. Amazon Basin
  2. Orinoco
  3. Rivers of the Guianas
  4. Paraguay-Paraná
  5. São Francisco River systems.

What do they eat[]

They eat humans,small mammals,insects,fish, crustaceans, worms, carrion, seeds and other plant material.

Precautions[]

Before swimming, take a good look in the water body. If there is any fish don't jump into it. The piranhas may eat them up as well as you. Its advised not to keep them as pets.
